VISITOR GUIDE
There's nothing like a home game at Lane Stadium, and this small college town fills up fast. Here's the short version of how to do it right. For the lot-by-lot parking map and a full weekend planner, see our sister site, Gameday Blacksburg.

Tickets are mobile. Load yours in advance. A screenshot won't get you in.
Clear bag rule: one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12" × 6" × 12", or a one-gallon clear freezer bag. No purses, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, coolers, camera bags or briefcases. You can carry blankets over your arm, and phones, binoculars and cameras without a case. Medical items are an exception.
Buy parking ahead of time. All on-campus public lots are cashless.
Perry Street Garage and Data & Decision Science sell a limited number of day-of spots by credit card. Lower Stanger and Squires are pre-purchase only.
Lots open at 7 a.m. on Saturday game days, and later for Friday night games.
ADA parking: Lot 25 in Oak Lane, $50 by card at entry. A BT accessible shuttle runs to the south end zone gates from 3 hours before kickoff until about an hour after the game.
RVs: the Student Remote Lot (Smoot Dr, Corporate Research Center) through the VT/Montgomery Executive Airport, or the Inn at Virginia Tech, both reserved in advance.
Off-campus lots and prices: see the Gameday Blacksburg parking map on our sister site, kept current for each game.
BT is free for everyone, no ID needed.
Take any BT route to the Transit Center, then transfer to the CAS (Campus Shuttle) at Maroon Loop Bay 5 or Orange Loop Bay 14. It drops you near Lot 1 and Cassell Coliseum, a short walk to Lane.
After the game, catch the CAS in front of Cassell Coliseum. The Orange Loop closes at halftime, so routes leave from the Maroon Loop.
From Christiansburg, take the Two Town Trolley. The last departure from the Transit Center back to Christiansburg is 8:15 p.m., so plan around night games.
Details: ridebt.org.
Tailgating: tailgate in the space right by your vehicle and keep roads and sidewalks clear. Hokie Village is across from Lane's west side by way of Beamer Way.
Gates open about 2 hours before kickoff. Be in your seat early for Enter Sandman before the team takes the field. It's the reason you came.
Before an early kickoff: donuts from Carol Lee (North Main), bagels at Bollo's, or a sit-down breakfast on South Main. See Best Breakfast in Blacksburg.
Pregame downtown: downtown is about a 15–20 minute walk to Lane, and the bars fill up three-plus hours before kickoff.
Friday night dinner: book earlier in the week.
Full list (pregame bars, Friday dinners, postgame): Where to eat on game weekend at our sister site, Gameday Blacksburg.
The Inn at Virginia Tech (on campus) and downtown sell out first, then Christiansburg and Radford (about 15 minutes), then Roanoke and Salem. A full Where to Stay guide is coming soon.
Sunday is the best day to be in Blacksburg, since everyone else is on I-81. Walk Pandapas Pond or hike Cascades (see Best Hikes Near Blacksburg), stop at a brewery like Rising Silo or Eastern Divide, then drive home once traffic clears. Bringing family for Family Weekend? See our Parents Weekend Guide. Want music the night before? Check live music this week.
One clear bag up to 12"×6"×12" or a one-gallon clear freezer bag. No backpacks or purses.
