Good morning, Blacksburg.

Tuesday wakes up wrapped in a little morning fog (patchy between 7 and 9), then burns it right off into a properly lovely fall day: sunshine and a high near 68, with a crisp low near 43 tonight. This is exactly the weather the leaves have been waiting for.

🚒 Fire Prevention Week: touch-a-truck tonight in Christiansburg

It is Fire Prevention Week, the national observance proclaimed by President Coolidge in 1925 and held in the week of October 9 to mark the Great Chicago Fire that began October 8, 1871. This year's week runs October 4-10, and the theme is "Safe Charging Is a Superpower," all about lithium-ion battery safety. Think e-bikes, phones, and power tools charging overnight in your garage.

The local way in: tonight, the Christiansburg Fire Department throws open its doors for Fire Prevention Night, 6-8pm at 110 Depot St. Kids can climb on the trucks, tour the station, and meet the firefighters, all free. A fine excuse to finally show your kids the inside of a fire engine. Christiansburg Fire Department
